Lima, the capital of Peru, is a city that blends history with modernity. Known as the "City of Kings," it was founded by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro in 1535. Lima’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to some stunning colonial architecture, while its popular neighborhoods like Miraflores and Barranco offer more of a modern vibe and have streets lined with art! The city’s culinary scene is also globally renowned, making it a foodie’s paradise! Whether you’re exploring ancient ruins, surfing Pacific waves, sipping on a Pisco sour or just finding yourself in yet another Irish bar, Lima has something for everyone!

How to get there?

Flying with LATAM

Getting to Lima is pretty straightforward, with Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) serving as the main gateway. Here are some travel tips:

By Air: Most international travelers arrive via Jorge Chávez International Airport, located in Callao, about 10 kilometers from Lima’s city center. Major airlines like LATAM, American Airlines, and Iberia offer direct flights from numerous global cities.

From the Airport: Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available. For a reliable and safe option, we would advise to book in advance or book a ride through apps like Uber, Kiwitaxi or HolidayTaxis. We met quite a few people who got a taxi from outside the airport and got SO ripped off! One friend we met agreed on a price of 70, thinking it was 70 soles but it turned out to be 70USD and they had to pay it! So, it definitely pays to be prepared or to use Uber. The trip to central Lima takes around 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
