Nestled amidst the vibrant energy of Mexico City, there lies an amusement park that has been the heartbeat of exhilaration and excitement for thrill and adventure seekers alike. Welcome to Six Flags Mexico, a realm where screams of joy intermingle with gasps of terror and where every twist and turn promises an unforgettable journey into the realms of adrenaline fuelled fun!

How it all began!

The First Sight of Six Flags México

Originally established in 1982 as Reino Aventura or Adventure Kingdom, the park underwent a significant overhaul in 1992, necessitating a temporary closure. Notably, during this period, the iconic film Free Willy was filmed within its confines, adding a touch of Hollywood magic to its history!

The year 1993 marked a fresh start for the park, as it reopened its gates under the revamped name of New Adventure Kingdom, beckoning visitors to rediscover its wonders. Fast forward to 1999, when Six Flags acquired the park, leading to another extensive renovation that introduced an impressive array of 20 new attractions. By spring 2000, Six Flags México emerged, captivating audiences with its thrilling experiences and cementing its position as one of the most visited theme park in Latin America. Through decades of metamorphosis, Six Flags Mexico has evolved into a haven for both the young and the young-at-heart, with exhilarating rides, captivating shows, and the infamous Terror Festival that attracts brave souls from every corner of the globe, which we just so happened to be there to witness!

How to get there?

If you're venturing to Six Flags Mexico from Mexico City, hop on the subway and take Line 2 to Tasqueña or take the metro’s Olive Line (Line 3) to Universidad, where there is a stop dedicated to Six Flags buses! From there, you can catch a direct bus to the park, sparing yourself the fright of navigating unfamiliar roads! If navigating the huge city on public transport isn't for you, Uber is always a great option here!

As we were living with India's mum in San Angel, we happened to be on a bus route that leads directly to the park - the Viveros-Casino line (thanks for the help Google Maps!) So, we took one of the green buses, as you can see in the video above, for a mere M$8 and got a ride straight to the entrance! The buses here can be pretty difficult to identify where to catch it and which one to get on, but luckily the buses that go past Six Flags have "Six Flags" written on the front of the bus on a little card. We found the best way to know where the bus stops, was to use Google Maps and then just stick out your arm and wave it down!

Value that Won't Haunt Your Wallet

It's spooky season at Six Flags México!

For the thrifty thrill-seekers among us, the season pass to Six Flags Mexico is basically a steal when compared to the day pass, with a day pass being $M999 and a season pass just costing M$100 more at M$1099 (October 2023). This grants you access to all the events and hair-raising rides throughout the entire year. We figured we would be mad not to pay the extra. Especially with the park being open from 10am-midnight while we are here, so plenty of time to explore! Plus, it includes discounts on meals inside the park and also souvenirs to commemorate your courageous conquests!

Ride Rundown

At Six Flags México, the exhilarating spirit comes alive with not one, not two, but nine official rollercoasters, promising an adrenaline-packed adventure for all thrill-seekers.

Among these, The Dark Knight and Joker coasters offer a twist on the classic Wild Mouse design, with the Joker ride adding a thrilling spinning element to the mix.

If you're craving heights, then the Superman el Último Escape, boasting its towering stature, is sure to leave you breathless!

For a different kind of thrill, Batman: The Ride, a suspended looping coaster, ensures a hair-raising experience for every rider!

Dare to be different with the Wonder Woman, a wing coaster, known for its mind-bending twists and flips, setting it apart from the rest.

In the midst of all this, the Medusa ride, the sole wooden rollercoaster in the park, promises laughter-inducing turns and heart-pounding thrills. The coaster weaves a tightly packed web, reminiscent of the legendary Medusa's serpentine tresses, leaving riders awe-inspired and exhilarated as they navigate through its twists and turns.

Nestled amidst towering trees and rocky landscapes, Tsunami, the vintage coaster, offers a nostalgic ride through nature's embrace, inviting families to enjoy a delightful journey within its caterpillar cars. Alike is the kiddie oriented Superman Krypton Coaster, which we skipped for the more intense rides.

Not to be forgotten, the Boomerang coaster delivers exactly what you expect - high-speed excitement that propels you one way and then in reverse, leaving you exhilarated and eager for another round of thrills!

  • Explore the Legends of Mexico, where myths come alive, blurring the line between reality and nightmare, beckoning the courageous to tread cautiously into the unknown.

As an added thrill, the three new attractions promise to push the boundaries of terror:

You can dare to explore the park between the 28th October to the 12th November, where you'll have nowhere to hide! At the Extreme Terror Festival, the horror doesn't confine itself to the haunted houses.Get ready to come face-to-face with the fest's spooky inhabitants as they roam around every corner of the park. But let me tell you, I was totally not ready! We decided to go on Halloween, and I thought it would be a bit scary, but boy was I in for a surprise. The moment we stepped in, a monster with a chainsaw came running out of nowhere, and from that second, it was survival mode for me. I practically sprinted to the first ride (Superman) just to feel safe again! But for any of you who are looking for a fright without paying to torture yourself in a house of horrors, this event is for you!
