Where did we stay?

As you'll probably already know from our previous trips, we knew we wanted to stay somewhere that was convenient but cheap and we believe we found just that! We stayed right in the heart of Little India, in a hotel called Dash Living Rochor. It was one of the cheapest options we could find that still had the luxury of having its own bathroom. We chose the cosy room and it was definitely cosy alright! You wouldn't want to be someone who has a lot of luggage with you! But, we really liked it and the place was tidy, had a kitchen you could use and even free washing machines and driers which was honestly a huge bonus! Plus, it was in walking distance of many of the MRT's and transport options and also only a short walk to Bugis and the buzzing night streets of Kampong Glam.

Day 1: Chinatown and Little India

Kick off your Singapore adventure by immersing yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Chinatown and Little India. Explore the bustling streets lined with colorful shop houses, indulge in the local cuisine at the hawker centers like the Chinatown Complex, and visit iconic landmarks like House of Tan Teng Niah in Little India and the Sri Mariamman Temple and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown. Plus, if you're looking for souvenirs and a whole lot more, don't forget to visit Mustafa Centre in Little India where you will find floors upon floors of goodies to take home! If you fancy it, why not even take a Big Bus tour where you can get a tour of all the best sights and really get to know your way around the city.

Day 2: Universal Studios

This was always one that was gonna be high on our lists! Head to Sentosa Island, a tropical oasis just off the coast of Singapore and spend the day being a big kid again at Universal Studios! Visit Far Far Away and live your Shrek and Fiona fantasy, or go to Jurassic World and fight off the dinosaurs in the rapids. We paid $73 Singaporian Dollars each with a free ice cream included too (which was delicious!). Though this park doesn't have as many rides as some of the other parks, we still had a really fun day and think it was totally worth it!

Day 3-4: Sentosa Island and the beaches

Of course you should dedicate a couple of relax days to exploring the picturesque beaches that dot the island. From the popular Siloso Beach to the tranquil Tanjong Beach, there's a stretch of sand to suit everyone! There's water sports, beachside dining, attractions such as the aquarium, Madam Tussaud's and the Skyline luge to break up those relaxing sessions and of course, breathtaking views of the city skyline from these coastal paradises. You can even visit the most Southernmost point of Continental Asia by taking a bridge over the sea at Palawan Beach. One thing about Singapore too, is that drinking in public is allowed until 10:30pm. So you can stop and get a few Changs (our favourite Thai beer!) from 7 eleven too for your picnic at the beach!

Who knew!

When you're feeling ready for a bit of adrenaline, make your way from the beach and onto the luge track. We chose to choose the 4 ride ticket as we already knew from the Queenstown luge that one time is NEVER enough! Everyone starts from one main track, but it then has a bunch of different diversions that you can take. Some are faster, some more windy and some easier, just depends on the path that you take!

Day 5: Hawker Center tour and a Night Safari!

Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat

Indulge in Singapore's many tasty delights at the iconic hawker centers scattered throughout the city, you can even take a tour! From Michelin-starred stalls to local favorites, savor a wide array of dishes that represent the multicultural essence of Singapore. Be sure to try signature dishes like Hainanese chicken rice, satay at Lau Pa Sat, carrot cake (not the type you'd expect!) Char Kway Teow noodles and try one of the delicious curry puffs from Old Chang Kee which you can find all over the city. Some of the famous Hawker Centres include Lau Pa Sat, Newton Food Centre which was featured in the film Crazy Rich Asians, Maxwell Food Centre and the Chinatown complex. Save the night for a Night Safari adventure at Singapore Zoo where you can visit the animals after dark. You’ll explore the jungle park on an open-air tram, catching sight of nocturnal animals in authentically created habitats. Then follow a guide on a walking trail to see leopards and other wildlife up-close. You can also watch one of the nightly shows, and you have the option to upgrade to include dinner at Ulu Ulu Safari Restaurant.

Day 6: See the sights!

Have you even been to Singapore if you didn't take this photo?

Delve deeper into Singapore's diverse heritage by visiting the landmarks, museums and historical sites such as the National Museum of Singapore and the Peranakan Houses. Wander through the charming streets of Merloin Park, Kampong Glam and Joo Chiat to admire the unique architecture and vibrant street art. Also another lovely neighbourhood is Clarke Quay, here you can find many restaurants and our favourite - and Irish bar - Molly Malones. But we do have to admit, we didn't drink here as pints were SO expensive and instead, did what the locals did and took our own drinks down to sit at the river.

Day 7: Leisure and Shopping

Conclude your week with a leisurely day of shopping (or window shopping in our case!) Stop at places like Orchard Road, Singapore's premier retail hub. Explore upscale boutiques at Marina Bay mall and local markets such as on Bugis Street to find souvenirs and unique treasures to bring back home. Wrap up your journey with a relaxing stroll through the Botanical Gardens and also Gardens by the Bay, before waiting for its epic night time show. (If you haven't watched it already!) After that, wander over to Marina Bay, where you can wait for the next iconic night time light and laser show. If you'd prefer, theres a night tour here where they will take you to them all!

Singapore offers a perfect blend of modernity and tradition, making it an awesome destination for anyone who is seeking a memorable city break. Many people only choose to stay a couple of days, but we really enjoyed having more time to explore as there really is so much to see. Whether you're drawn to the sandy shores, diverse cuisine, or vibrant cultural scenes, a week in Singapore promises an unforgettable experience that will leave you yearning to return for more adventures!
